Yann is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars.org). Growing up in West Africa, Yann dreamed of becoming a sound designer in Tinseltown. A TV addict at 9, with no television at home, he was forced to hang out with neighbors so he could watch his favorite shows. Yann got his first Mac in the 80's and fell hard for his little computer. After a short stint hitting the skins for the seminal trash rock band Poubelle, Yann resumed chasing his dream of cutting rad sounds for films, on a Mac. He quickly moved to Paris, Montreal, Toronto but his sights were always on Los Angeles. He arrived in West Los Angeles in the glorious 90's, a time when banks would lend you money if you had a pulse, and so he bought a house on the Westside, best thing he ever did. The equally best thing that happened is : he opened his heart and got married and stayed married, to the same woman! "First you get the money then you get the woman" isn't that what the man says ? Then what ? Then you score a love pad in Paris ! which we did. In the digital Wild West of the LA post scene, Yann proceeded to learn everything he knows working for the most uncompromising directors in Hollywood, Michael Mann, Peter Berg, Brett Ratner, to name a few ; Guys famous for turning their post-production process into absolute angst fests that deliver cinematic magic. Yann still spends countless hours in dark rooms surrounded by enormous screens creating sounds for similarly OCD directors. He is close to achieving Nirvana in Hollywood, but his obsession with sound could get in the way.- Cédric Le Men was born on October 5th, 1976 in Saint-Martin-d'Hères, a suburb of Grenoble, France.
His first ambition was to become a professional musician, after attending music classes as a child and learning guitar as an teenager. In 1993, he founded the rock-band Zahori, of which he was a member for almost a decade. At the time, Cédric was studying Spanish history and literature in Montpellier university, in the south of France.
His interest changed after watching the movie "Amelie" by Jean-Pierre Jeunet in 2001 : he then realized that he wanted to become a film director, and moved to Paris to study cinema in the ESRA (Ecole Superieure de Realisation Audiovisuelle) film school. There, he directed two short-feature films, "Kaeron" and "Lacrimosa", for which he also composed part of the original soundtrack.
Upon graduation, Cédric directed several music videos and live concert recordings produced by his own company created in 2008, Camisole. He also worked, on the side, as chief editor for cultural website Ça Dépend des Jours, before directing his first non-scholar short film, "Dieu reconnaîtra les Siens" ("Let God Sort Them Out"). - Producer
